CLEESinHE

Care Leaver/Experienced & Estranged Students in Higher Education

Care Leaver/Experienced & Estranged Students in Higher Education – CLEESinHE – is an informal working group of key stakeholder organisations collaborating to meet the goal of improved outcomes for care leaver/experienced and estranged students in Higher Education.

The group aims:

  • To address findings within existing evidence provided by research papers
  • To further enhance the evidence base relating to these populations of students generally, and specifically to ‘what works’ in improving HE outcomes
  • To share relevant information and offer value through collaborative operational activity
  • To offer informed, active and shared policy messaging

We are currently focusing on three areas of activity:

Outcomes research and data – Focusing on data and the importance of robust, up-to-date statistics that will help us better understand this group of students and advocate for better support.

Funding structuresDeveloping our collective approach to creating a sustainable funding infrastructure that supports care experienced & estranged students to thrive at university.

Structural responsibility – Collectively working together to address the disparities in support for care experienced & estranged students through things like universal local offer support from LA’s, engagement with NNECL quality mark and CLC HEI engagement activity.

CLEESinHE is convened by the Unite Foundation. If you’d like more information please contact info@unitefoundation.org.uk
